The Wits Centre for Diversity Studies is a unique research and teaching institution based in the Faculty of Humanities.

Through interdisciplinary postgraduate education and research, WiCDS aims to deepen knowledge of diversity, difference and power, and build capacity to meet the challenges of diverse societies, particularly post-apartheid South Africa.

WiCDS was founded in 2014 by Professor Melissa Steyn. Its current director is Professor Nicky Falkof. Through its intensive programme of events, education, research and collaboration and public dissemination, WiCDS contributes to the broader project of diminishing inequalities and building a more just society.
